Dr. Laura Powell Fernandez has 8 years of experience in small animal general practice, and 3 years of experience in small animal emergency relief. She is known for her positivity, empathy, and attention to detail. Her professional strengths include internal medicine, dermatology, and animal behavior. Dr. Laura is Fear-Free Certified, and aims to keep stress levels low for her patients, pet parents, and veterinary colleagues. She believes in educating the pet parent, meeting them where they are at both financially and emotionally, and reaching a collaborative decision on what is in the best interest of their pet.

Dr. Laura is currently licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Ohio, but will consider obtaining licensure in other states if the need is there. I have had the honor of working with Dr. Laura Powell Fernandez for the past two years at West Central Ohio Veterinary Emergency Services. I am the lead veterinarian at this emergency clinic located in Lima, Ohio. I have needed relief veterinarian services and part-time help on numerous occasions, and Dr. Laura has helped in both aspects. She has been a pleasure to work with, bringing her attention to detail to every case. Her communication and people skills are excellent. 

 

She is a great diagnostician and relates well to clients during their time of need. She is very compassionate and helps owners through the process of making important decisions in a timely manner. Dr. Laura’s treatments are spot on, and she can adjust quickly to the ever-changing field and cases. She also has good surgery skills, handling patient anesthesia and tissue during surgery with care and ease. She brings a level head and maturity to staff and cases.

 

In summary, Dr. Laura would be a great asset to any clinic. Her enthusiasm for learning and passion for client and patient care are obvious to all around her. If your clinic is in need of a relief veterinarian, I would definitely recommend her.
